Courtney Rogers, Denim Marketing’s inspirational and dedicated Senior Account Manager, will be the first chairperson of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s brand-new Young Professionals Group. Originally created and launched by the HBA’s Professional Women in Building council under the name Elevate, the Young Professionals Group seeks to involve members of the homebuilding industry age 40 and younger in the local HBA. Of course, those over 40 are invited to participate as well!
The Young Professionals group will host events centered on networking and educational opportunities for young professionals in all aspects of the Atlanta homebuilding industry throughout the year. The professionals participating in the group include interior designers, workers at construction companies, builders, lawyers, lenders, vendors, Realtors and, of course, marketing professionals, in addition to others.
The group has successfully held events geared toward engaging young homebuilding industry professionals in the past, including 2017’s inaugural Builders and Brews event at SweetWater Brewery (which went off without a hitch on the night of the infamous I-85 bridge collapse). The group has also hosted meet-ups for happy hour at Atlanta Braves baseball games, as well as the annual Speed-U-Cate educational speed dating event.
Courtney, who served on the Elevate Committee and currently sits on the Atlanta PWB Board, was heavily involved in the planning and implementation of Elevate’s various events and promotions. As the Young Professionals chair, Courtney plans to bring the same enthusiasm and fresh ideas to the table.
“I am so excited and honored that I was chosen to lead the charge for young professionals in our industry,” Courtney said. “We had great guidance and support from PWB, and we’re excited to continue our growth as our own group. The Young Professionals Group will provide the great programs that Elevate was known for offering plenty of networking, fun and educational opportunities throughout the year.” She continues, “The goal is to bridge the gap and get the under-40 crowd involved in the HBA at an earlier age.”
The National Association of Home Builders designed the Young Professionals committee to encourage under-45 members’ involvement in every level of the Federation including networking, education and advocacy initiatives. The Young Professionals committee helps lead NAHB’s efforts to make membership more attractive to this important demographic by exploring services and products that will better serve its unique needs.
The committee provides the NAHB Board of Directors with guidance on ways to enhance the younger member’s association experience and provides insight on mentoring, leadership training and entrepreneurial and general education for emerging industry professionals.
Additionally, the committee sponsors the NAHB Young Professional Award, which recognizes NAHB members under age 45 who have dedicated their time, effort and careers to the home building industry.
